Google Groups: alt.comp.anti-virus

So you think you have a virus or a trojan or something just generally missing up the way your computer works?

Max Wachtell in google groups way back in 2004 produced a wee list that lists the "things to do" and I don't think really that the list has changed all that much. I commend the first three points to your thinking.

  • Update Windows
  • Use a firewall
  • Use an Antivirus of your choice and keep it updated.
  • In Windows Explorer, set Folder Options to "show all files"
  • And clean out all temp, cache, and junk files.

Okay so that is five. But that will keep you away from the worst.
